Same photo as yesterday but made some changes ...removed the branches from behind the bird...do you think it's better?

BEautiful color, the yellow background really makes the little feet stand out. Was this taken recently, it looks like there are buds on the tree?

@Denise: Thank you Denise....yes this was taken yesterday..the 18th. This is a lilac bush. I'm not sure why the buds are like this...they stay yellow all winter....they are this way in my photos from last year too..?

Mary, great processing work. Nobody would ever know that there had been any branches there before. Which program do you use? If I have asked you that before I apologize for not remembering. :-)

@Marion: Thanks Marion :) I have photoshop elements 2. It serves my needs so far so I haven't upgraded.

Nice processing work Mary. But really, the picture itself is quite nice-great clarity and detail. Removing the branches just makes it better by focusing the eyes on the finch much more

I think it's amazing! I do like it better without the branches. I'm also incredibly impressed with the focus - this is a truly quality image.

@willow: This canon lens 100-400 L IS was a gift from my husband. It is super fast at focusing (which is great for birds I'm finding) and I too am impressed with the sharpness...Thanks for your comments !

Superb shot with wonderful color. I don't know that this is "better" or "worse" than the previous shot, but they do have a different feel to them. It just depends on one's taste. The previous one had more of a sense of context, where this one focuses our attention more on the bird. But both are lovely.

Yep ... this shot with the branches removed is hands-down the winner! That L lens is absolutely killer I have a 70 – 200 f2.8 L and I sometimes combine it with a 2.0 extender, but that combination is no match for the tack sharp quality you're getting with your 400 mm! That's some husband you have!
