Mary, you do beautiful macro work. I'm a full-time pro who makes a living at shooting landscapes and sports. I'm just starting to delve seriously into the world of macro (I'm primarily a grand view shooter), but as your quote from Henry Miller concludes, shooting macro does open up a whole new world of possibilites. With the few images you have posted, you demonstrate a wonderful eye for light and composition. Keep up the awesome work! As you continue your photographic journey, it would behove you to learn as much about Photoshop as possible. There are so many books available out there, two that I recommend at my workshops are Scott Kelby's Photoshop CS3 and Rob Sheppard's, Photoshop CS2 for Landscape Photographers. I'd also recommend you take a look at Freeman Patterson's work - he specializes in extreme macro/abstract work - I think you would enjoy it.

@Don Smith: Don, Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I really appreciate them. I try to read as much as possible on photoshop, there is just such a big learning curve for me.. I hope to find some classes where I can actually see and have a living person show me some things. I do try to capture what I want in camera as much as possible as I really would rather not spend hours in front of the computer. Thank you for the recomended reading I will look into them.
I have enjoyed looking at your work as well~~It's wonderful. Have fun with your macro journey. It is truly a pleasure in its many forms. I have found mixed reactions to mine~~people either really like it or really don't ; ) But that's okay, everyone has different likes and dislikes~ what a boring world it would be if we all were the same!!
